What to expect during PHP
Full clinical Assessment
Each client begins with a full clinical assessment to determine if PHP is the right level of care for your needs. We get to know you, what brings you to us, and we formulate a plan with you to address your individual needs in body, mind, and spirit.
clinically-Proven Therapies in a Warm, Homelike Environment
At Great Falls Wellness, we combine the best clinical approaches with the comfort of a cozy, home-like setting—offering the expertise and structure of a clinic without the intimidation of large facilities or inpatient hospitalization.
Support & Freedom
PHP offers steady structure and support while you return home each night to your routine. It offers treatment that might otherwise be too disruptive for parents, students, and anyone who cannot uproot their lives for 28 days. PHP can also be part of a step-down plan between inpatient and outpatient care.
Expert Care Team and Small Groups
Our small group sizes and compassionate staff ensure every client receives personalized attention, genuine connection, and consistent support throughout their recovery journey.
Creative and Experiential Therapies
At the heart of our program is weekly equine therapy, where clients build trust, confidence, and connection through guided work with horses. This unique approach is complemented by art therapy and trauma-informed yoga, helping individuals express emotions, release stress, and heal both body and mind.

we’re here to answer all your questions
We understand that navigating the process of addiction treatment can be overwhelming. We’re here to help, every step of the way.
Is PHP Right for You?
PHP may be appropriate if you:
- Have completed detox or residential treatment and need a structured next step
- Need more support than traditional outpatient therapy
- Are resistant to traditional in-patient drug rehabs
- Want the flexibility of living at home or in sober housing while receiving intensive care
Where will I live while I’m in PHP?
You can live at home or at a structured sober living facility nearby. There are many sober houses in Fairfax County, Loudoun County, and Washington, DC. We are happy to make recommendations based on your gender, age, and needs.
Do I need to live at a sober house to attend?
No. You may commute from home or arrange recovery housing independently. Some people find it helpful to stay in the comfort of their own home during PHP treatment, while other people prefer the freedom from distractions and added support of a sober living house.

You offer trauma-informed yoga. What if I have injuries or mobility restrictions?
Trauma-informed yoga is gentle, adaptable, and safe. A clinician trained in trauma care will meet you where you are. We review your injuries, mobility, and comfort first. Movements are optional and pain free. Most work is seated in a chair or standing with support. You set the pace and can pause at any time. Cues are invitational, and touch happens only with clear consent. We focus on breath, grounding, and regulation. Many people feel calmer, safer, and more in control. You do not need to get on the floor or be flexible to benefit.
I see equine therapy, but What if I am afraid of riding horses?
Equine therapy more than just riding horses. Sessions are guided by a certified equine therapist working with highly trained animals. Activities may include grooming, leading, or quiet observation. The focus is safety, regulation, and present-moment awareness. Horses respond to body language, which helps clients notice patterns and practice new skills. Many people report increased calm, trust, and connection. No saddle required!
